ACTC Panel Discussion: John Sneisen and Outerrnet

Sunday, June 15, 2025

John Sneisen of The Economic Truth joins us, the Anti-Censorship Technical Committee guys, to discuss his work on Outerrnet.

Outerrnet is a project to build an internet that can run on any network without requiring centralized Big Tech architectures for it to function.

We discuss the current capability to send near-instantaneous text messages in a peer-to-peer fashion without central servers or a spying / censoring tech giant in the middle. This can be done across a variety of networks ranging from your household LAN to using satellite communications or even across normal internet connections.

Along the way, we discuss his work with Ernie Hancock at Freedom’s Phoenix to set up a network covering an entire valley, plus other efforts, other partnerships, and alternative technical approaches. The discussion covers other relevant topics including AI and a number of freedom-enhancing technical concepts.

Check out the discussion, and join in the discussion to let us know what you think!

It was a fantastic discussion for us. We really enjoyed talking with John and look forward to further collaboration in the future. It’s great to talk with a fellow techie who feels a strong calling to preserve liberty!

The best way to find out more about John Sneisen’s work on Outerrnet is to go to this site, and hunt him down on social media platforms including X.

If you know of anybody working in the fields of privacy, decentralization, anti-censorship, or adjacent areas who we should be talking to, please reach out to us using the Contact page on our ACTC website.

Please also consider donating to the cause, to help us move forward with our efforts at ACTC.

Thanks!
